It’s Beginning To Feel A Lot Like Christmas

Yesterday I attempted to be (uncharacteristically) organised and use late night Thursday shopping to get ahead of the game. I’m going to be away the two weekends before Christmas, so being organised seemed like a good idea. I forgot how much I disliked shopping.

I have a rule that Christmas must wait until at least the start of December, and so as the first rolled around I loaded up my iPod with my various Christmas albums (all varying shades of horrific kitsch that only this time of year can justify) and decided to get in the spirit.

So I got the bus into town yesterday afternoon after work and went for it. Perhaps I would have go on better if I hadn’t brought my camera, but I would have certainly been much, much more bored. I think I spent as much time taking photos as I did shopping, or perhaps a little more. Basically what I’m trying to say is that the sum total of my achievements was buying something for myself and taking quite a lot of photos…

The tree in St Andrews Square and Harvey Nichols:

Possibly the best-decorated window display in town:I can also now appreciate how amazing the Dome looks (it’s had decorations up since October – I was not a fan):And to take a fresh look at one of my favorite monuments – the Scott Monument (and the big wheel):I may be a bit of a bah-humbug in November, bemoaning the early start of Christmas (or at least its conercial side), but it is now into December and I can now release all of that child-like excitement and start getting in the spirit. As my iPod tells me It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas!
