it or not, mental health isn’t just a diagnosis. It’s your overall
psychological wellbeing. It’s the way that you feel about yourself and it also
relates to how well you are able to take care of others. If you want to take
steps to try and boost your mental health then you’ll be glad to know that this
is very easy to do, and that it won’t be long before you can see big results.
Tell Yourself Something Positive
Research has shown time and time again that how you think about yourself can have a huge impact on your mental health. If you happen to see yourself negatively then you may end up viewing
any experiences in a way that confirms this notion. Instead, you need to use words that promote feelings of self-worth as much as possible and you also need to promote feelings of power and control.
Instead of saying to yourself that you are never going to get a job because you tanked an interview, tell yourself that you might not have done as well in an interview as you’d have liked, but this doesn’t mean that you are not going to get the job.
Write Down Everything you are Grateful For
Gratitude has been linked quite a lot with mental health and improved wellbeing. If you want to help yourself then you need to try and keep a gratitude journal. Write down something that you are grateful for every single day and let it fill your heart. Make sure that you bask in that feeling and also make sure that you focus on really boosting your self-esteem overall.
Focus on the Current Moment
The more mindful you are of the present moment, the more you can let go of any negative or difficult emotions that might result from past experiences. You need to bring some kind of awareness
to your routine activities, whether it is eating lunch, having a shower or even walking home. This will help you to focus far more than you realize. It’s helpful to take note of the taste, sound or physical sensation that you can feel. When you do, you will soon find that you feel better overall.
Workout
Your body releases endorphins both before and after you workout. This is one of the many reasons why exercise is such a powerful antidote to depression oranxiety. Look for small ways to try and add activity to your day, whether it is taking the stairs over the lift or even going on a short walk.
If you want to try and get the best result out of your exercise, then you should aim to have around 30 minutes of exercise per day. Going outdoors will also help. Sure, an exercise bike is a great way for you to burn calories but exposure to sunlight will help you to produce way more vitamin D and this will increase your serotonin levels.
Eat a Hearty Meal
You should know that what you eat will nourish your entire body, as well as your brain. Carbohydrates, even in moderate amounts can boost theserotonin that is in your body. Foods that are rich in protein can also increase norepinephrine and dopamine too. Vegetables are loaded with nutrients that will feed every cell in your body, including those that help to regulate your mood. Research has shown that nutrients can improve your mood and it can also help to restore the structural integrity in the brain.
Open Up
Knowing that you are incredibly valued by others is important if you want to think much more positively. Being more trusting can also help you with your emotional wellbeing because you will
get better at finding some of the more positive aspects in others. When you do this, you will then become much better at being able to recognize your own.

Do Something for Someone Else
Research has shown time and time again that if you help others, this can have a really beneficial impact on how you feel. Being helpful and being kind will help you to feel more valued and it will also help you to build your self-esteem too. Take a Break
Sometimes, things get too much. If this happens then you need to step away and you need to put an end to whatever is stressing you out until you feel better. Sometimes the best thing that you can do is a breathing exercise. To start, close your eyes and then take 10 deep breaths. For each one you take count to four on the inhale and then exhale for the same amount of time. If you do this then you will soon find that you are able to feel way better.
Go to Bed on Time
A huge amount of research has been done and it all shows that if you are sleep deprived then this will have a huge impact on your mental health. If you go to bed at the same time every day then this will help you to establish better habits when going to sleep at night. It’s vital that you start today because you have the power to take some very positive steps right now if you want to improve your resilience and your emotional health.
Take Charge
You need to take charge of your regular patterns and your routine too. This will help you to feel better and it will also give you the chance to take much more control of your life. At the end of the day, talking to a professional can help you to put a problem in perspective and it can also make you feel more supported and way less isolated. Keeping in touch with your friends and family is vital. They can help you to feel much more confident in yourself and they can also put your mind at ease too.
Drink Sensibly
Some people drink because it helps them to deal with any feelings of isolation or fear. At the end of the day, this change in mood is temporary at best. There is no safe level for alcohol consumption when it comes to your mood overall so you need to try and find a healthier way to cope with your stress if you can. This can include trying a new hobby or getting involved with a new activity.

better about yourself and that you can also look to the future much more easily. If you keep on putting everything off then you may feel as though things start mounting up and that you are never able to deal with them properly. This is the last thing that you need, so take the time to focus on
your general wellbeing and organize your to-do list. This could involve setting times throughout the day when you need to take care of certain tasks or it may even involve you trying to set deadlines.

Another thing that you can do for yourself is have a wellness box. When you have your own wellness box, you can boost your mood whenever you want, and you can also feel confident knowing that
you are going to have access to it whenever you need.
Have a Hot Shower
When you feel tired or depressed, sometimes a hot shower can be just what you need in order to perk yourself up again. If you want to help yourself then try and drag yourself into the
bathroom and put some nice bath salts into the bath. You can even add some bubbles if you want. When you do this, you will soon find that you are able to relax way more and that you can also unwind knowing that you don’t have anything else to worry about. If you have kids then consider enrolling them in day care, or if you know that you have too many responsibilities then consider asking your partner if they can lend a hand with some of the things that you find most stressful. If you do things like this then you will soon find that it is easier than ever for you to get the relaxing experience you are looking for and this can really work in your favour.
Of course, it’s not easy to work through depression and sometimes you may get to the point when you feel as though things are getting too much. In times like this, you need to be able to
take a minute for yourself and you also need to focus on getting things back on track. If you do this, then you will soon find that you are able to relax way more and you can also put yourself in a better position overall.
