It’s Too Hot Outside

Posted on the 21 March 2012 by Crossstitchyourheart @TMNienaber

The weather here has been good for the most part.  The sun is shining, the wind is blowing, it feels like spring.  Until you actually walk outside.  It’s hot.  Summer hot.  Not pleasant.  I sweat doing nothing more than walking to class, which makes it very hard to stay motivated.  With just a few weeks left until the end of the year I have plenty to get done and no motivation to do it.  I want to go outside and swim or something else summer related.  I do not want to sit in the sun and burn while doing homework, but I don’t want to stay inside and work while the world is so pretty outside.  Not the worst position to be stuck in, but still…we all get to complain about something.

The unit is going well with my student-teaching class.  I always feel a little concerned when I start class that I’m not prepared enough.  I’m still trying to get use to how many activities I can fit in during a class period and how It’s too hot outsidemuch time might be left over.  Sometimes I feel like I’m just making things up as I go.  As perfectly summed up by this piece of flair I found on google images curtosey of another teacher who must have been feeling the same way I do.  Things are going better than I expected all things considered.  So that’s something I guess.  I am learning!

It’s too hot outsideAs promised I’ve finally got some progress to show you on my cross stitch!  It’s not quite as much progress as I wanted to get done over a week break, but I was puppy training.  The pattern is still shaping up really well and I’m falling in love with it pretty quick.  I’m not loving the fact that the aida cloth is so light and the rest of the pattern is such a dark base.  I’m having to remind myself constantly not to pull the stitches so tight because then there’s that horrible tan color that seeps through what is supposed to be total black.  The pattern is blending well so far though.  The light reflection in the pavement gives it a wet, just after the rain, look which I love and which is carried off very well.  The glow from the windows is coming together nicely too, although I think it will stand out even better once I get to the backstitch finished.  I’m looking forward to continuing with it and I think it’s going to turn out very well.  Tell me what you think!  And if you have any tricks to keep from pulling stitches too tight let me know, please.

Have a good rest of the week!  We’re half way to the weekend…can’t wait.

Here’s a black and white picture of the cross stitch so far.  I was playing around with settings, and this really seems to showcase the movement in the piece.  Enjoy
