It Seems Having a Disaster in Life is Not Always Bad: It May Be Bound but Definitely Not Chained

So last night, I watched a show that reminded me something of what happened a few years back and made that feeling fresh again. Well, if you think that this post is about a heartbreak or a love problem, I am sorry its not (too bad eh? haha!). On the other hand, I am sure that most of us has came to a certain point in life that we taught our lives were a disaster, that we felt being left behind by the world, that so many bad things are happening at the same time and they are too complicated to be resolved.. that we are loosing the grip from our dream, that scary feeling about what the near future has in store for us, and that hopelessness that we might have done everything we could but was not good enough..

I remember the group taking pictures that night so I searched for them and found out that it took place 5 years ago already (not the picture above nor below lol). Man, time flies really fast! So back then, we have different care groups which we share life stories with. We meet almost every week and it usually happens on a Sunday night. We are kind of updated with the happenings of one another and most of the time, we end up closing the establishments where we do it.
What was my state before that specific sharing happened? I honestly do not remember it exactly as it is anymore but what I recall then was that I was not feeling good - speaking generally in life. Well, we have our own standards of our own states so for me that time.. I recall it on being one of my lowest moments..

And to my surprise, what I was going through was nothing compared to what the others are actually facing. (Pardon me as I need to write this as general as possible and not splurge any personal detail)
I will be brutally honest in here that after knowing some of their problems, I felt a sense of relief and an actualization that my problems are not that serious. Their problems ARE. So it kind of gave me a different perspective that "Hey, my problems are not that big of a deal anymore". I felt that if they can face that big of an ordeal, why am I taking these petty problems of mine bigger than they should be. And when I try to place my own shoe to theirs, I think I can't handle it the way they do. I will really look worse 100% and might have taken it exponentially worse! With that said, I was admiring them at the same time.
So, contemplating on what happened during that time, my problems were instantly wiped out and my attention was focused on what the others were going through. There was one situation there raised up that I cannot imagine myself to be in.. so I said to myself that "I may not afford to help this guy with the means the situation needs but I will really try to regularly check-up on this person as that is what I can genuinely give - with God's help, we got your back!".

[Now to the show I watched last night]
This celebrity personally visited a contestant who was in this reality show because he was moved on knowing the story behind this girl on why she wants to win the program. So despite the busy schedule, he showed up to the program and helped this girl intentionally because she made him feel how petty his problems were.
[Going back to the blog post]
I was instantly reminded on how similar this situation was to what I previously experienced 5 years ago so I was moved and decided to share it here as well. I will bring the issue up that the situations given may not be in the best conditions to get inspirations from but despite how bad the condition you may be in right now.. just think of the possibilities that you may have been inspiring people around you in many ways you are not aware of (or you just don't know it yet). It is actually a win-win situation where the one with the bigger problems create opportunities for others to help, and may get support from others once it is recognized.. and for the people with the smaller problems to let them know how small their problems really are and share comfort with the ones with the bigger problems - (sana na gets niyo lol!).

Milk tea nights! Anyone?

I was blessed enough to be surrounded with Godly friends as these conditions are critical. We can search for help, temporary relief & happiness to forget them (problems) or even answers to a lot of things in this world but I would like you to know that giving them to God is the key. I remember the viral trait "Paying it forward" which may just be the perfect example to explain the acts behind these situations. But we must all remember that these good acts should only be the fruit of our main mission here which is to follow and be like our Lord, Jesus Christ.
So just as a reminder, if you are currently having giant problems right now or probably stumble them in the near future: Please..
- Do not depend on your own strength and understanding (they will fade eventually),
- Do not settle on temporary solutions (prevention is better than cure),
- Our brain is located on top of our hearts (though easier said than done) but believe me prayer works!
And don't forget that when life throw rocks at you, be smart that there are a lot of responses to choose from other than being beaten down by it:
- Think of the opposites that will make you appreciate blessings more
- Convert the situation and make your mess your ministry
- Absorb the experience - learn from it and make it knowledge
- Look at it at a different perspective that will make you a stronger person
- You can even counter it with faith
And there it goes. All I wanted to share is that disasters in life happen - some people may be going through exactly what you are experiencing right now (so you are not alone) and some are even at worse conditions (try to appreciated that). But eventually, you'll move on. The longer you stay in it, the harder it is to get out. There are far more better things ahead and remember that! There will be people ready to help you so don't ever face them alone. And again, I won't get tired of saying that more importantly (not just in marriage), put God in the center of everything because He is in control. God bless you!
