Jared and Indie Sitting in a Tree.

I wrote THIS post last week. If you haven't read "bonding with a second" then you should before this post. I was talking about how my first baby, Shia, and I have an incredible bond. She and I can never speak a word to one another, and she understands every word that I am saying. I am struggling to find that bond with Indie. Mostly because I want to be as attached to him as I am to Shia right this second.Jared and Indie sitting in a tree.
The funny this is that Jared and Indie have a bond that I never saw him have with Shia. He loves Shia, but he adores Indie. He doesn't mind waking up to taking him out. He understands that he is still learning to potty train. When Indie is awake at night Jared smiles at him and lets him cuddle in the bed. He is such a different parent with Indie.Jared and Indie sitting in a tree.
I feel like it's the oldest syndrome. Shia is expected to pave the way for Indie. She shows him where to go to the bathroom. She shows him how much to eat and where. When it's time for bed she lays by Indie's kennel so he won't cry. She is seriously the greatest dog. She is the best big sister in the world to Indie. Jared and Indie sitting in a tree.
You know how when you're in a relationship you get to take steps to enhance the relationship. Jared and I made a GIANT step when we got Shia. It changed our entire relationship. We had to plan times to let her out, learn about training, learn to be a little bit less selfish, so many things. I was extremely worried that when we added Indie to our family it might be too much. I always have wanted a second dog, but it's another body! Another mouth to feed another few months of our lives dedicated to potty training. Things could get bad. Jared and I could be driven apart. It's hard to be a dedicated puppy parent.Jared and Indie sitting in a tree.
The good news is life is busy but better than ever. I love seeing my sweet Jared cuddle up to Indie and have the start of an incredible bond. I have always wanted Jared to understand the passion I have for Shia. I think he's learning that with Indie. I love it.
Have you ever bonded with one pet or child more than another? Or is it just different types of bonds? Like when you have 2 best friends but you love them for totally different reasons.
Happy Valentines tomorrow! I hope you all feel the love!
