Jean Public Exhibition
So As I said yesterday, I spent my afternoon at the George Pompidou Art center in Paris, partly in a quest for inspiration, partly for simple enjoyment. I spent the best part of 3 hours talking in great detail about all the fantastic works on show, with my good friend who is currently visiting me in the culture, fashion & art capital.
Exhibits include work by Picasso, Dali and many more, and range from performance art, to interactive exhibits, to sculpture & painting. Its only the second time that I have visited the gallery but although I had seen many of the exhibits before, I was blown away & inspired by many of the newer ones & I never tire of looking at the single Dali painting which leaves me in aw every time.
Among some of the visiting exhibits was work by French artist Jean-Michel Othoniel, the artist responsible for this beautiful and familiar looking metro station beside the Louvre museum.
His work was so decidant and beutifully detailed, you could stare at it for hours, looking at it from every angle, and looking through the giant glass beads which change your perspective of the room entirely. My particular favorite was this bed…
…A real dream Princess bed huh? Inspired by the lights of Venice by night, the artist not only displayed his final products, but snips from his sketchbook, which is worthy of admiration, as its not something that most artists do, but it is a nice touch to help people to understand where the inspiration came from and how these ideas transpired into something so beautiful and totally practical.
