You cannot keep good people down. Perhaps kill them, but not keep them down. And if they manage to complete some major steps in life, even if they are killed, they could easily live beyond their physical lives.
Demaso Padrón left the Canary Islands towards the middle of the 1800’s, emigrating to Cuba. It was customary in those years that Islanders worked the tobacco fields. His family bought a small farm in what we know today as the very best area for tobacco in Cuba – Pinar del Río. His grandson was born in 1926 and in 1961 he was forced to leave Cuba. That is why José Orlando Padrón, after going to Spain and then to New York, established his company in Miami in 1964. In 1967 he began using the tobacco from Nicaragua and in 1970 open his factory in Estelí.
Today Padrón is the single word that will come out of cigar smoking mouths with astonishing frequency if they have little or no access to Cuban cigars.
The 1926 and 1964 Series are the respective birth celebrations of a man and of a company.
