Just Some Thoughts...

Posted on the 13 August 2012 by Gandbblog @GandBblog
I think I write too quickly sometimes and keep things way too surface level on this blog.Yesterday, on Facebook I asked some of you what you thought about including more in depth posts about my beliefs, insights, and dreams for the future. Because you guys are so awesome, you thought it was a great idea! Love you guys. Truth.
I think I get caught up in what's "cool" to post about, and not what's important to me. I feel as though I have so much going on right now and so many questions. As some of you may know the hubs and I decided to take a leap and move to Alabama to be closer to my job. The rent is reasonable and we would have more space. We also want to go somewhere where we can be needed and invest in others' lives. This has been in the works for months, and although I maybe slightly fearful of the unknown, and I am more fearful of the complacency and stagnancy that may come if we stay where we are currently located.
When the hubs and I met we were certain of only two things. We knew we both loved the Lord and wanted to see him evident in our lives. We also knew that we would be in an arena where we could minister to those who are and aren't affiliated with a church, religion, belief system, etc.  We know that we love kids (of all ages) and really feel compassion for those who just aren't the typical "Christian" model, or can't seem to grasp the need for religion, or religious beliefs, or most of all Jesus. Not everyone in America believes the same things I do (I know, shocker), but I want to be one of the few who can debunk the view of what American Christian culture is, or more fittingly isn't. You see, Christianity is now a religious group that is seen as "hateful", "small-minded", "crazy", or "hypocritical". I am not saying that isn't true, because sadly it is true. Christians can be these things, but I feel a shift coming. I know the world (myself included) is over the church bull-shnocky. Trust me, I am too.
So you are going to read more about this journey. I am going to include my encounters with others, scripture, conversations, and more about this, and how the hubs and I plan to change all of the perceptions listed above.I may work at a Christian University, but I in no way want to surround myself with only Christians. We plan to engage with all kinds of people from all walks of life. We are not sure how this will look yet, but we know that it will be what we are striving towards.
