As we close out 2016 and the snark around its terribleness truly kicks in, I admit, it’s not difficult to find fault in the last year. I admit to joining in on one or two occasions, but today, following the loss of another icon, the incomparable Debbie Reynolds, I’m compelled to follow the spirit of the performance that made her famous…

…which is not the title song, referenced in the title of this post (but the sentiments the same, it was catchier, so I went with it), but this unforgettable number:

Yes, it’s been a stormy year, full of loss, conflict, and general crappiness, but gosh darn it we still have a lot going for us. And as the song goes, “Sunbeams will soon smile through.” So while I don’t condone blind optimism, a little bit of hope never hurt anyone. So hang in there, here’s to a “Good Morning” in 2017.
