Did you know that it is estimated that a burglary happens every 40 seconds in the UK with thefts surging by 38% following the clocks going back and the evenings becoming darker?! That's pretty scary to hear! But I guess it's something that we should all be more aware of. It can be too easy to take our home security for granted when home is our most comfortable place to be.
After the success of previous years, National Home Security Month or NHSM for short is going to be returning this October offering yet more tips and advice to people on how to keep their homes, families and all of their possessions safe! The campaign which is sponsored by Yale, will highlight a different element of home security each week and NHSM will additonally be supplying daily security tips on social media over on their Facebook and Twitter accounts. The campaign also has numerous high profile supporters such as Amazon, Maplin and B&Q who will all be having in-store offers and promotions on selected security products throughout the month. We've very very fortunately never had anyone attempt to or break into our home, I can't even imagine how horrible it must be. It really is one of my very worst nightmares! I used to work for the Police both in the control room answering 999 calls and in the police station on the front desk of a very busy station and it was always so horrible hearing about people who had been victims of break-ins. So this sort of campaign is absolutely brilliant and a really great way to not only advice people on their home security but to make us all aware of potential threats we many not really think about day to day. National Home Security Month is sure to help a lot of people again this year, especially those who are elderly or more vulnerable.
