I've loved the look of wall panelling for such a long time now and I'd mentioned to Adam a number of times that I'd wanted to have it done in our house, but we honestly thought it would be such a big and expensive job that we just didn't do it.
That was until recently. I'd been watching videos on Instagram and YouTube seeing other people DIY their wall panelling and I sent a few of the videos to Adam to show him how easy it looked. That's when he started looking in to it and came across pre-cut wall panelling kits! We hadn't even realize these were a thing, but it opened up the possibility of going ahead with the panelling, as Adam had been insistent on not wanting to cut all the wood.
We found the pre-cut panelling kits at B&Q for just £19.97 per kit. They are called the Cheshire Moudings Pine Modern Wall Panelling Kit. The kit covers a 2 meter space and we used around 2 and half kits on our kitchen wall as it's quite a long wall. What I also like about these particular kits is that it comes with a decorative top bit which sits on top of the panels and gives it that something extra!
To attach the wood to the wall we used No More Nails. We caulked around any edges where there were gaps and then once the caulk was dry we painted it in Pavilion Grey by Farrow and Ball. We did two coats and I can't tell you how much I love the colour! Farrow and Ball paints are quite pricey, but this one was so worth it! I love the tone and the fact that it's not too dark and not too light. It's the perfect gray that we were looking for.

We are SO pleased with how it has tuned out and absolutely over the moon that it was so inexpensive to do, because at one point we'd talked about hiring a carpenter to do it! Adam seemed to absolutely fly through doing it and said he found it really easy to do, especially so using the pre-cut panelling kits. I'm just so glad that we did it as I feel it's added character and a touch of color. The wall before had always felt like it needed a little 'something' and the panelling has added that.
We found it so easy to do and love it that much that we've actually just done the same to a wall in our living room - blog post on that to follow soon!
