Laoag At First Night

Bored at the airport

I've taken into consideration the traffic we had to endure on a payday Friday, I already inform my peeps that we leave the office on an early time. And as soon as the clock hits 04:30PM, we immediately made our way to the NAIA Terminal 3 for our flight. Right smack in the airport lobby we grabbed our early dinner at Shakeys so that we won't be missing our flight.
Despite the seemingly good feeling for the coming trip, Cebu Pacific ruined it again. The supposed 07:00PM flight has been rescheduled to another hour. Oh well, nothing really new there. There's nothing a good  mixtape can't fix on a full volume that is.

Nevertheless it was a good 30-45 minutes flight from Manila to Laoag. The pitch black darkness has already covered up the skies when we landed. But the familiar simoy probinsya  was a perfect greeting for me who haven't been in this side of the country for the past ten years.

After getting brochures from the information desk, we proceed to the free shuttle bus service to Texicano Hotel. I was mesmerized when we passed by the greatly illuminated Ilocos Norte Capitol. The word laoag actually means light in Ilocano dialect.
Cock-a-doodle-doo

Texicano Hotel

Our friends on an earlier flight managed to roam around Laoag were already sleeping when we checked-in at the hotel. Imagine the time we still had if the flight wasn't delayed.
There were barely no establishment open that time, but since we wanted to drink before we call it a day, the hotel receptionist recommend us to go to Cockhouse. Yes, you read it write. Despite it's not so wholesome name, this is resto bar  with live band entertainment catering all sorts of crowd - from family,to your neighborhood barkada and foreigners alike.
My guess is that the owner of the place could be one of the well known sabungeros in Laoag. This is because most of the TV in the bar display Tukaan before switching out to UFC. Anyway, the band  that time were actually good covering songs from Rihanna to Maroon 5. We ordered bagis ti baboy, cheesesticks and of course two bottles of San Mig Light before eventually going back to our hotel. If you happened to be in Laoag you got to check this bar out.
