Le Bon Marche “SO LONDON” exhibition.
A couple of days ago, I went along to see what all the metro posters were hyping up. The famous Paris Department store on the left bank is have a So London extravaganza. What they call an exhibition however seemed more to me to be a collection of there in store products related to British style, displayed along side cut outs of men in Bowler hats. The same cut outs were scattered around the store to help shoppers identify British products.
The exhibition included everything from clothing, to fabric to home furnishing and books about British design.
For me as a Scottish designer, I thought it was a little unfair, that the poster for the campaign features a tartan dress, men in bowler hats and the titile: SO London. Tartan is Scottish. Its so typical that anything British is linked with London, which simply isnt the case, the Scots have there own culture too.
