Lesson 499 – the Trouble with Geeks

Posted on the 23 February 2012 by Wendythomas @wendyenthomas

Many of you know I live in a house filled with geeks. Among those who can be counted as Doctor Who, Power Ranger, Monday Night Combat, and League of Legends lovers we have: Marc, Spencer, Griffin, and Logan. It’s easy at times to feel outnumbered. (Girls? Let’s take a road trip to the nearest Pet Store to play with the puppies.)

However, in the name of tolerance, I do my best to put up with the more geekier of the family members (I have to, they are the ones who explain how to do the math problems to the younger kids.) Which is why when we find a geek joke (a really funny geek joke) we all rejoice. We have found common ground.

Recently on Facebook, I came across this little gem:

Two atoms were in a bar when one of them said, “I think I lost an electron!”
“Really!” the other replied, “Are you sure?”
“Yes, I’m absolutely positive.”

And then there is this one that always cracks us up:

A neutron walked into a bar and asked, “How much for a drink?” The bartender replied, “For you, no charge.”

Oh, how we jauntily chuckle at these jokes as we toast each other with our Mountain Dews. Even still, I always feel a little sad. Although I laugh at these jokes, I’m not really feeling the love for those of us who are of the non-geek persuasion.

But recently the clouds parted, and a ray of sun shone directly on our house because a friend sent me not only a geek joke, but a chicken-geek joke!

Question: Why did the chicken cross the mobius strip?
Answer: To get to the same side.

Geek and chicken lover have finally been united as one. I see a utopic world in our future.

What? It's funny!
