Lesson 607 – Quotable Chicks

Good parents give their children roots and wings. Roots to know where home is, wings to fly away and exercise what’s been taught them.

– Jonas Salk

Hatchet-man-Trevor is currently at gymnastics camp as a counselor and boys’ coach. It doesn’t look like his chop to the leg has slowed him down at all. In fact, this may be the first ever picture of a chick roosting and flying at the same time.

In other news of the flock, Spencer our oldest is currently running for a State Representative Position for our district. In his bio he has this to say:

I am running for the position of State Representative for District 21 because I was always taught that if you didn’t vote (or get involved) then you have no right to complain about the way things are. I am at a position in my life where I want to get actively involved in State politics. Using my experience and education, I am prepared to discuss and at times, debate proposed changes to our State laws while always representing and protecting the values and best interests of the people of my district.

The girls and Logan are getting ready for the New Hampshire States Swimming competition this weekend and Griffin has just published his first app to the app store. (Don’t worry if you don’t know what that means, it took me a few tries as well, essentially, Griffin wrote a program that can be downloaded onto a PC or a phone. The program identifies and calls up information on dozens of characters from his favorite video game.)

Griffin is also officially ahead of me in the “Game of Thrones” books which, as an avid reader, I can appreciate as being quite the accomplishment.

If you hear crowing from our back yard, that’s not another rooster that has snuck into our hen house, it’s just this mama hen incredibly proud of her chicks as they exercise what they’ve been taught.

See you next week.

As always, happy weekend everyone, health and happiness (and safety) to your flock.
