As an update to the storm.
Man, that was something. We live in Southern New Hampshire, far away from the center of hurricane Sandy and yet we had strong winds and driving rain all day. Can’t even imagine what it was like for those who were closer.
At one point, 57 percent of our town was out of electricity.
And yet we never lost ours.
We have limbs and probably every leaf that was left on a tree in the state of New Hampshire now on the ground in our yard but amazingly we didn’t have any damage. And then this morning, Addy told me about a tree that she had heard fall during the night. I went out to look and wow …
Here’s one of our trees that just snapped.
And here’s one of our tall pines. Here is the root ball.
Here is the top of the tree extending into our neighbor’s yard. That’s one big tree.
And here is the root ball in relation to our house. If that tree had decided to fall in another direction, it could have taken out our house. (and hit in the area where the girls sleep.)
Yup, a few prayers of thanks went up this morning.
Our flock is safe and sound and we are so very grateful for that.
Those who were and continue to be in harms’ way are in our thoughts and prayers.
