Let’s Talk: Perspective II

A few Sundays ago after returning from church around 5ish, I usually will head straight into the house. But this time around, I chose to take a walk very close to the river, and I'm glad I did that lovely Sunday afternoon. Here I was, sat on a concrete slab close to the river, just trying to enjoy the view and appreciating the wonder of our Creator. Trust me when I say something is calming about the river. Take the opportunity to take a walk where the river is; it gives you a calming effect- especially if you've had a very rough day; it makes everything go away.

However, what was more remarkable to me on this Sunday afternoon was when my avian friend decided to perch around me. In the UK, Pigeons have extraordinary confidence, and I dare say- a balanced diet. On this same Sunday, I saw a pigeon perching on pizza on my way to church, and I'm sure it'll have helped itself to some coke that was spilled nearby.

What amazed me the most was when I turned away and gazed towards the river, I saw what looked like a plastic bottle moving around. To my utmost unbelief, it was a duckling trying to balance itself as the tide moved. It swayed side by side like a gymnast trying to balance herself after numerous flips.

Now this is what struck me! Here I was, in the midst of two birds, one feeding on everything and anything around it, and the other swaying side by side in a tango like fashion. It wasn't like I was out bird watching, but it was fascinating to learn something from nature, either accidental or by divine orchestration.

These birds were made for different reasons, one was made to be on the water, and one was made to fly around whenever it felt threatened.

The key thing here is that they are both birds, but clearly for different purposes and were made for different environments. If you judged the purpose and ability of a duck from the perspective of a pigeon and vice-versa, it'd be an epic failure. In my humble opinion, this principle can be applied to almost every area of life. They're both birds in their own right but have been created for different purposes.

The moment we can identify the purpose we have been created for, we will thrive in the right environment.

The most important thing in all of this is asking God to show you where you're supposed to be and trusting him as he guides you every step of the way.

Look at the birds in the sky. They do not store food for winter. They don't plant gardens. They do not sow or reap-and yet, they are always fed because your heavenly Father feeds them. And you are even more precious to Him than a beautiful bird. If He looks after them, of course He will look after you Matthew 6:26 (The Voice)

God bless you!
