Happy Independence Day to all my fellow citizens of the United States of America! And to the rest of you, happy Wednesday!
It’s an election year, and as good a time as any to truly appreciate what freedoms we get to enjoy everyday (and every four years). Such as:
- The Election Process – a year-long (what can I say, I’m an optimist) process of hearing what that one guy hasn’t done, and what so-and-so isn’t going to do.
- The Right to Vote – eeny, meeny, miny, moe…it’s the lesser of two evils…Mickey Mouse or Donald Duck?
- Freedom of Speech – comes with the privileges of listening to everyone else’s freedom of speech as well.
- Right to Bear Arms – and blow things up every Fourth of July.
Okay, so it’s not a perfect system, but we make up for it with spunk and attitude.
So, here’s to being American and all the rights and privileges that come with that auspicious label.
