Part 1: http://krishnayamini.blogspot.in/2014/01/language.html
Remember that old man from the street, I met him again. This time I was not running, I was not in a hurry. I had made up my mind I will not run away this time. I went to him, as usual I gave him some money and stood there to listen to him. Yes language was a barrier but I still wanted to listen.
"I was a carpenter....."
"I had enough money but ......cheated me I lost everything"
"I now live with my daughter, she takes care of me......she makes me whatever I want"
"I can't eat much....." he showed his empty mouth with no teeth.
He repeated some bits again, to make me understand. He drifted with languages, he tried to talk in the language I speak, but he didn't know much of it. He persisted, he tried to speak in a mix of both, but this time it was much easier. We seemed to have crossed the language barrier.
"I live there ......." he tried to explain where he lived
"And you?"
I tried to explain but realized it didn't matter if he understood or not, I just pointed in the direction which would be easy for him to understand
"I sometimes ask money, some people in the cars, they just rush. Some people give"
"I had money but all lost everything when I got cheated..."
"I have never cheated anybody"
"You should be careful, don't trust anyone. You should be very smart with people, smartness and god only these two help us in life. Rest everybody is bad. They are here to cheat people. You shouldn't be trusting anyone"
"You see this mark on my palm, this is the symbol of god's grace...."
He said a lot more, I couldn't understand much, though I stood there and continue to listen.
As the conversation came to an end, I began to move ahead, he called back again
"Don't trust anyone. They are all out to cheat. Be smart, you can trust me. I have never cheated any one"
I learn't to listen
