Literary Junkies: Favorite Books, Characters We Wish We Were, Books We CAN Put Down, and The State of Our Bookshelves

A few months ago, I told Lesley of By The Porch Light that I would participate in her new link-up, Literary Junkies, because I love books, and while I don’t really like to do a lot of memes anymore, this was one that I thought I could really get into. So, without further adieu, here are this month’s questions:

1.) Which book could you read over and over? Why?

It’s not just one book that I could read over and over, it’s a plethora of books. Yes, a plethora. As in, I have too many books that I want to re-read. At one point, I thought I was going to get stuck in this never-ending cycle of reading and re-reading Harry Potter, and that I would never pick up another book outside of the series every again. But, alas, I did, and some others I have no problem reading time and time again are:

2. If you could be any character from any book you’ve read, who would you be?

That was obvious, wasn’t it? Hermione Granger is a kick-ass witch. I get to be smart, fierce, confident, two of which, at least, I could really use some work (the latter half, in case you were wondering. I ain’t stupid.) ;-)

3. Do you ever put a book down because you can’t get into it? Or do you stick with it to the bitter end? Any examples?

There have definitely been some books like this throughout my life, but I really try not to put a book down unless it is just absolutely horrid. I actually stopped reading Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets when I was a kid, something I’ve expressed great dismay and regret over since. Some people say if you don’t have them hooked within the first chapter or ten pages, they’re not going to waste anymore of their time on it, but I like to try to stick it out if I can.

4. Show us your bookshelves! Do you have one designated spot in your house for all your books? Do you scatter them around?

I wish I could show you my bookshelves! Unfortunately, I’m writing this on my lunch break and don’t have any pictures of them on hand to post, but I’ll try to get that done tonight.

I have one main bookshelf I bought from Target that has five rows and is deep enough that I can put two rows on each shelf if I need to, but I also use a decorative shelf for some hardcover books, and two smaller bookcases that used to be bathroom shelves in my old apartment. There are some built-in bookcases in the guest bedroom I may end up having to use eventually. :D
