London Open Top Bus Tour

Posted on the 19 March 2017 by Ashley Crombet-Beolens @Fromanurbanlake

Now I know this isn't as wildlife focused as most of my posts are, and I apologize for that, but it was outdoors, and well to be quite frank I took some nice photos of the capital yesterday while either walking or on an open top bus tour of the city and I wanted to show them off a little. And well we can't always do our walking in the countryside, sometimes a city jaunt is all that is available to us and sometimes the focus isn't always about the nature either.

London Open Top Bus Tour

This post is pretty much going to be images, not much writing, and a lot of those images won't tell you what the buildings are (yeah, I have no idea what landmarks are what in London). although there are two little rants that I'll save till later, one at the company we paid a pretty hefty fee to for the trip and one at the few idiots who ruin things for others.
Oh and before I go on, how much does our capital rip people off? £70 to visit the Tower of London, so bad that the cash machines open up by asking if you would like to withdraw £200, £300, £400, £500 or Other! WTF London!!!
Anyway on with the photos.

A Few London Landmarks

Excited Bubs & Tubs

Zoe & Tubs

Palace Theatre showing Harry Potter and the Cursed child

Unknown building

Unknown building 2

Stanhope, Macaulay & Carlyle at the National Portrait Gallery

Nelson's Column

Somewhere on the Strand

Here be Dragons

St Paul's Cathedral Roof

St Paul's Cathedral Roof again

St Paul's Front

Bit of modern architecture

Rant One

Whilst on the top deck of the bus, tow "gentlemen" thought that they had to get a photo of each other at every landmark standing up and blocking other peoples views each time, because only their fun is important! I lost my cool when one of them literally was leaning on my son to get the perfect angle! Not that this stopped them being in other peoples way. Grrr...

More Landmarks

Tower of London

Another view of the Tower of London (How expensive is getting in to this place!!)

My two favorite ladies

Across the River from the Tower

London City Hall

Old and New
London's oldest church in front of a modern building (the "Walkie Talkie")

The Little Ones

Tower Bridge and the Tower of London

View from Tower Bridge

Across the river
Views of The Tower of London and the Gerkin

Tower Bridge

Tower Bridge from up river

Trying to find where to get back on the bus

The Shard in Black and White

Rant Two

If you supply a map of where people can "hop off, hop on" you bus, then if a section is closed perhaps you should let people know! we ended up wandering around the London Bridge area trying to figure out where the route went for over an hour than eventually finding one of the stops listed that was not closed, waited 20 more mins before realising that they had clearly moved the route as we saw a number of busses round a corner and head the other way from us!
This is NOT how you get good references or repeat business. Oh and a strongly worded email is coming your way (on top of me now naming and shaming you, the company was Golden Tours - no link, sorry not giving them anything).

Final Landmarks

Lambeth Palace (we think)

Houses of Parliament

London Eye

London Eye & London Aquarium

Clock Tower that Holds Big Ben
(two double Decker busses can fit side by side through that clock face!)

Elizabeth Tower

Methodist Central Hall

Unknown Building 4
