As cathartic as it might be to laugh at what would otherwise be the horribly depressing realities of our world, sometimes it’s nice to laugh with no buried drama. So, today, I’m taking a moment for pure, joyful comedy…
First, a different kind of comedy.
What makes it different you ask? It’s not the fact that it’s a new release summer series, it debuted at Cannes, is based on a web series of the same name, or even that one of its leads is a speaking canine.
No, what makes ABC’s “Downward Dog” different goes much deeper than its furry narrator. This smart, sweet comedy is a welcome addition to a summer otherwise filled with reality TV and game shows.
Next up (and last up) I’ll wrap things up with a 2WC favorite, “Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt,” which just released its third season on Netflix, and is just as unjaded and delightful as ever. May we all strive to be the bright spot that is Kimmy Schmidt…
