Lookie: I Got a Leibster- Oh Wait - I Got 2!

Posted on the 09 April 2013 by Mel1206 @mel1206
Within an hour of each other I was nominated for a Leibster award.  Similar to the award I told you about yesterday, this is a peer given award to newer blogs; but is not specific to Mom blogs. :-)  Here are some descriptions as listed by the lovely ladies that nominated me for the award:
From The Wild and Wonderful World of Gingerssnaps:
...it is a nomination from another blogger, that means your blog is an up and coming blog!  It is for bloggers that have less than 200 followers, that deserve some recognition and support.
and from Trials of a Stay At Home Mom:
...The Liebster Blog Award is used to highlight smaller blogs with less than 300 followers.
Thank you to both of you for nominating, I am touched that you think my blog is worthy of letting your readers know about.
Also, in respect to this award there are a few rules, or guidelines if you will - just so we in the blogosphere can get to know each other better.
  1. Each blogger should list 11 random facts about themselves
  2. Answer the questions the tagger has set for you, then come up with 11 new questions just for your nominees
  3. Nominate 11 Blogs to receive the award from you
  4. Visit their page and let them know they have received the award
  5. Don't nominate those that nominate you.
I just ask that those I nominate to please link your post for the Q&A in this post so I can learn more about you :-)
11 Random Facts About Me
  1. I am Left-Handed
  2. My husband and I were both born in Augusta, but met in Charleston
  3. I am a little obsessed with Charmed, so much so that I have created a Sims 3 town full of characters from the show; however, I never watched it while it was still being recorded.
  4. I worked in marketing for my mother's company until I left to move here with my husband and try my hand at being a housewife
  5. I was the captain of the Flag Corp (also known as a Drill Team, I think) in high school.
  6. I grew up in a small town, where my graduating class had less than 200 people in it, and it was the only high school for the city
  7. My family works in Nuclear Power, and I am an advocate of it
  8. I tried to be 'goth' in high school - but I was way to chipper for it, I always looked better in red lipstick instead of black.
  9. I went to Mardis Gras three times, I have pictures - but they are locked away so my daughter never gets them!
  10. I love tattoos, but am too much of a wimp to get one.
  11. I turned 30 exactly one month after my daughter was born.
Questions from Kristin:
  • Why did you start blogging?  This is actually my ... 3rd.. blog, but this is the one I will stick with.  The first blog was created about gardening; I found that I don't really have the patience or inclination to garden well - regardless of how well I want to.  The second blog was about deal finding, but really I wasn't the best at what was already a saturated field.  I took a couple of years off of blogging and decided to come back but focus more on my writing - and in my varied interests:  Parenting, Pop Culture, Gaming, Social Media Marketing, Baking, etc.  I have finally found my voice in blogging and am enjoying it this time around much more than any time before.
  • Would you consider yourself a leader or a follower?  I am kind of both, but lean toward leading.  If I don't know what I am about I tend to follow - but I research the hell out of what ever I am doing, and once I get it - watch out because I will take over leading, or at least try to, from that point.
  • Optimist or Pessimist? Why?  There are times in my life I seem a little pessimistic, but all in all I am an optimist.  I firmly believe your life is what you make it - why would I approach it with a negative outlook?
  • What makes you happy?  Watching my daughter.  Yes she drives me nuts sometimes, but there are those moments that I just look at her and am filled with an overwhelming love and happiness to for her.
Questions from Gingerssnaps
  • Where were you born?  Augusta, GA
  • What is your most favorite thing from childhood?  I am going to assume my teen years are still considered 'childhood' :-)  I have this authentic 70s blazer, black with a lot of colorful embroidery and sparkly buttons.  I got this from my mother (it was from her younger years) and am hanging on to it for my daughter (I can't fit into it now)
  • Why did you start blogging and why are you blogging now?  Is it for the same reason you started?  See my answer to Kristin's question above.
  • What is your favorite made up silly word?  Sowhat.  That is what we call soda in our house, why? because our daughter started calling it sowa when she was first talking - and it just kind of stuck
  • Who is your favorite leading man/woman?  Oh wow - that is unbelievable tough for me.  I really have to go with 4.  Leading ladies:  Angelina Jolie and Sandra Bullock - both for entirely different reasons:  Jolie is the best leading action actress out there (Tomb Raider anyone) while Sandy is the chick I just want to be BFFs with.  Leading men:  Johnny Depp and Antonio Banderas, yeah they are both hot - but it is Antonio that I find steaming hot (muy caliente!) while Johnny I like more for his acting abilities (if you haven't seen him in Blow you are missing an amazing performance)
  • Who is your favorite Hero/Heroine from any book and why?  GAH!!!  How in the hell am I supposed to CHOOSE?  I love Khalan Amnell from the The Sword of Truth series , she is a mixture of strength and grace.  I relate the most with Egwene Al'Vere (I think that is her last name) from the The Wheel of Time series , we share a lot of personality traits :-).  There are many many more, but those are just the ones that come to mind right now.
  • Have you gotten to know any of your fellow bloggers personally?  Not yet, but I have met some gaming pals IRL (I play MMOs)
  • What is your favorite holiday?  Christmas - just that time of year is magical, and I love it.
  • Who is your role model and why?  Piper Halliwell - yeah yeah, she is a fictional character, but I don't care.  For her it is family first, and as big as her heart is you damn well better not hurt her family. (I liked her best in the later seasons).  I know - a lot of people put their mother here, but while I love and respect my mother - we have a different set of values and I do not look up to her as someone I want to be like.
  • What do you want to be when you grow up?  Are you there yet and are you what you wanted to be as a child?  I don't really know what I want to be when I grow up -- perhaps a kid again :-)  And no, I am not the pop star I wanted to be as a kid, THANK GOD!
  • What is your favorite quote?  I never did mind about the little things. (from Point of No Return)
