It’s the one day of the year when those who aren’t lucky enough to be Irish the other 365 (since it’s a leap year) days of the year get to pretend they are.
While those of us who are Irish (or half) the rest of the year, get to take pride in our heritage. Okay, maybe “pride” isn’t the right word, it is a holiday dedicated to drinking. But we do get to lord our Irish-ness over the posers.
Just kidding…sort of. Today’s not about who is Irish and who isn’t, it’s about green beer, green clothing and well anything green, and I imagine at one point, it was about St. Patrick too.
So, in the spirit of the holiday, I raise a metaphorical glass to the Irish, the non-Irish, beer, the color green, and the man who may or may not have driven the snakes out of Ireland. Thanks for giving us an even better excuse to drink on a Thursday.
