I would say I've been working diligently to get this story done, but the truth is, I'm not. Oddly enough, I was strolling through aisles in the bookstore and came across a book called Lockdown, by Alexander Gordon Smith. A first book in the series Escape from Furnace. This book is about an underground prison that keeps juveniles about a mile underground for permanent incarceration. Sound familiar? Yeah. My story. I can't see myself writing something that's already been done, so I'm afraid I'm going to have to start a new short story thread.
The characters will stay the same, but I'm taking a different route in writing it.
If you really liked the whole prison idea and wanted to see where it was going, I strongly suggest reading Lockdown, and it's teen fiction, so it's probably as gruesome as mine was going to be (if not more). I started reading it a few days ago. It's actually really good. A lot more frightening than mine was going to turn out, but also a lot cooler.
Here's the covers of the books, to give you a better idea...
I hope you understand my dilemma here. Why on earth would I write a story that's been already written? It's like writing Brave New World or even The Odyssey again with a small twist in the plot and change in characters.
But anyway, I posted the next installment of Luke, in a whole different direction. If you already read the first part, read it again since I changed it a bit.
I would love it if you'd let me know what you think! You're more than welcome to comment on this post, or on the "Luke" page (located on the right navigation bar under the tab "Home".
If that idea doesn't work for you, you can email me at hana93@gmail.com and let the subject of the message be Luke.
New installments will come every other week, so stay tuned!
