#MamaStyle Monday!

#MamaStyle Monday!
I've always enjoyed fashion.
I guess it all started when I was about 7 years old and I realised that the thing I wanted most in life was to look EXACTLY like Kylie Minogue.
I remember the absolute glee I felt at finding a shop local to me called "Kylie" who sold outfits like the ones she wore in her videos but made for kids! Bliss!
Of course there have been MANY fashion faux pas made over the years....
I went through a stage of dressing like a "Hippy" because I thought it looked pretty cool.....and then there was the very unfortunate Spice Girls era where for a solid year I wore my hair in Baby Spice Bunches and tried to walk in 5 inch wedges.
And yes...I did own a union jack dress.
So although fashion may not have always been my friend, I have had years and years of fun experimenting with different looks.

You hear a lot of talk of how - once babies come along - it's suddenly very difficult to keep up with fashion, or to dress how you want to.
Personally, I haven't found this to be true.
I think it's easy as a parent to end up spending all your spare money on shopping for children instead of for you and I am definitely guilty of that myself, and I do think its much harder to shop in stores as trying on clothes with a child waiting around is FAR too much hassle for everybody concerned.
But with online shopping now so easy, it means that shopping as a mama is far from impossible.
I have chosen not to give up my interest in fashion since becoming a Mum....it's part of who I am. I have never been someone who enjoys dressing down....I can't think of anything I'd rather do less than have a "No Make Up, Wear a Tracksuit" day....I simply wouldn't feel like myself.
People often see that as a bad thing...
"You find yourself in a make up bag?"....
"You're not "you" without hiding behind a mask of foundation?"
No. Of course that's not true.

But part of "me" is the enjoyment I get from putting on make up, straightening my hair, choosing clothes I like, and feeling that I look as good as I can.
It's enjoyable to me...so why should I have to give up part of ME now that I'm a mama?
It seems that most people are all for "empowering" women to have the right to not wear make up, wear their old comfortable clothes and just be comfortable with themselves....but if you feel at your best & most comfortable wearing make up and dressing up that's a bad thing?!
I disagree.
This is me....
Yes. I'm a Mama.
But I'm still me.
And "me" enjoys taking 10 mins extra in the morning to put on some make up and straighten my hair while my child plays happily with his toys right next to me.
So I'm going to be starting a new series on my blog...#MamaStyle Monday...where I will be sharing my favorite outfit from the past week.
I don't shop all the time, I don't spend a fortune on clothes, I don't have anywhere close to a perfect body or look...but I like what I wear.
To kick off #MamaStyle Monday I'm sharing my favorite outfit from the past week....
This is something I wear a lot because it is SO incredibly comfy and it suits pretty much any occasion...whether I'm going out to do the weekly shop, going to a toddler group, visiting family or whatever else....this covers all the bases.

Longline Top: New Look Crochet Ballet Pumps: New Look Black Leggings: Select Shark tooth Necklacke: Peacocks
I absolutely love wearing long line tops...I think they are perfect for Mums as when you are constantly bending over to pick up a toddler you do NOT want to have to worry about your top riding up and showing any bum cleavage!
Leggings are pretty much what I live in as I find them just SO comfortable, and ballet pumps are my current shoe of choice.

The reason I'm sharing these posts is to celebrate Mama's & the  style they choose to rock....To celebrate our post-baby bodies and the way we dress them...
If you want to join in with me, just share a photo of your favorite look from the past week...either in a blog post, tweet or Instagram...Be sure to share the link with me!
