Yesterday, I decided to make my brother's favorite dessert for Iftar. It is a simple and tasty pudding. Here I share with you, my Iftar special dessert recipe. You are most welcome to nibble with me. :)
Ingredients
150 g Marie Biscuits 1 cup Milk2 tpsp Custard powder2 tbsp Cocoa¼ cup Sugar100 gm Unsalted Butter
Little milk to dip the biscuitsCrushed Biscuits or Chopped Nuts
Method
Blend well the cocoa and custard powder in little milk. Make sure there are no lumps. Boil the remaining milk in a saucepan adding sugar. Add the blended cocoa mixture and cook till thickens, stirring all the time. Remove from fire and keep aside to cool, stirring occasionally.
Separately in a bowl, beat the butter till creamy. Now add little by little, the cooled custard to the butter and beat well. When the cream has cooled a bit, it is time to start the layering.
Dip the biscuits one at a time in the extra milk. Be careful not to soak the biscuits too much as they will just fall apart. Arrange neatly in the bottom of the greased casserole dish. Spread the chocolate cream for about ¼ inch thickness. Then sprinkle crushed biscuits or chopped nuts. Then start the second layer with dipped biscuits. Repeat the same till the biscuits and cream are used.
Sprinkle the crushed biscuits on the top and freeze it for an hour. Serve chilled.
I served the Gateaux with Vanilla Icecream.
Variations - Instead of cocoa powder, can use instant coffee for the coffee flavor.
This delicious gateaux is smooth, crunchy and cold dessert.
Happy Eating!
