Marikina Bike Lanes

Have you roamed around Marikina through its improved bike lanes? Lately, it has takenover the internet because of its aesthetic vibes and unique bike paths.

Though bike lanes in Marikina are not new, the power of the internet through trends made waves and reminded people, even those non-residents of the city, of this unique experience of roaming Marikina through its renowned bike paths.
It all started when an online post featured the Simeona bike trail, which is directly beside a creek without fences. Though it was seen as unsafe, the curiosity of the people, even the city residents who were unfamilar with the path, was enough for them to take the trip and visit the site. Well, that includes me.

I never knew we had something like this in our own city, so visiting it myself was really very interesting which led me to explore more of what we had been missing for years.
And true enough, something more came. A bike path going through a tunnel - the Goodfriend bridge near the Goodrich village. And when I posted my video, mixed reactions were shared. The more exciting part here is that the city has just made a specific office (Marikina Bikeways Office) just to improve the bike lanes, so plans were already in place, and actions to restore and develop everything were soon to be implemented.

I was blessed enough to be invited to the city's bike lanes lighting event and see the more lighted bike trails in person. It should serve the bikers with safer and more accessible bike paths in terms of time, so we can use it even in the wee hours.
Aside from lights, paved and cleaner paths were done, bollards were installed, newly painted cements and walls were seen, plants were planted on some restored areas, and even specialized railings were installed on the creekside bike path for additional safety.
