Attending church was never a question before we got married. I always pictured myself marrying a pastor. Even with all of I have gone through, I just knew that I wanted my family to be raised in church. After getting married we were involved in a church for a while. I wanted to be supportive of my future husband, so I got involved as much as I could. A few weeks later we got engaged and it seemed like the entire world was falling apart. All of the sudden our decision to marry was an inconvenience and we felt VERY little support. Eventually, we had to leave this particular church and I felt nearly exhausted. We attended here and there with my parents for a while, but a few months later we moved to a new city. I didn't want to go anywhere whatsoever, but I knew that falling away from the church, or my faith wasn't the answer I was looking for. We began attending a couple of churches, but new opportunities to relocate arose and once again we were on the move. This last week I talked about attending a local church for the first time in months. We have some opportunities to serve and for once I am hopeful. I think that the church is place that can heal, nurture, and grow its members. I hope to experience that and enable others in our community to do the same. The church is the body of Christ and should operate as so. I feel that this new journey will bring forth new light on my past and enable me to finally move on and accept what the Lord has led me through.
