Hello and welcome to Lab Coats and Liabilities, the adventures of a NEW third year med student (Mori) and an accountant/grad student (Elle). I am looking forward to meeting all you newcomers and reconnecting with the regulars.
Mori received his scores last Wednesday exactly three weeks and two days since taking Step One. I asked him in the afternoon if he'd heard anything even though I promised myself I wouldn't mention it till next week. Ah couldn't resist! I didn't get home until 9 and he mentioned it briefly. "Oh, I also got an email saying my scores were available."
The sweet man waited for me to get home before looking at them. I guessed a pretty decent score and asked for a 10+/- leeway. He scoffed at my guess saying it was too good. AND I WAS OFF BY ONLY 7 POINTS!
Mori passed!!!! I am thrilled and relieved beyond belief that his hard work and the stress endured all paid off. We took a look at the average scores for specialities he might want and he meets them all, sometimes being on the higher end of the range. Happy happy happy!
So it was a great end to a painful saga in our lives. A time that I would never want to relive. Though you all reassure me Step 2 is much better than Step 1, preparations for my trip to Japan have begun. Told ya I was going far FAR away while he was in study mode!
Third year is turning out to be wonderful, but we don't hit the hard rotations till the fall. Time for a relaxing summer together <3
