A few weeks ago, I hosted a Memorial Day brunch at our new house. I wanted to not only thank the service members and veterans that I know, but also honor our family and friends who have given their lives for our country. I was blessed to be able to work with Nestle in order to create a fun, iced coffee bar and some festive patriotic recipes.
While we should always be mindful and grateful for the soldiers who are currently serving our country, the true meaning behind Memorial Day is to remember those men and women who we have lost. I know sometimes it is hard for Ryan to talk about his friends that never came home from Afghanistan, but he is always sure to express his thankfulness for their service, acknowledge the blessing that he did come home, and honors their memories by never forgetting who they were and what they sacrificed.
I invited other veterans, family and friends to celebrate these beautiful lives that have been lost.
The biggest part of the brunch table was an iced coffee bar. I wanted to find a way to feature these limited edition Nestle Coffee-mate creamers. Nestle has partnered with Operation Homefront, which is a great organization that provides a wide range of support to military families. When we were in the Army we experienced how important organizations like this are to service members and their families. Whenever you purchase one of their French Vanilla & Hazelnut creamers (or their Original powder creamer) that is in a patriotic stars and stripes bottle, a portion of the sale will go to Operation Homefront.
I provided a ton of iced coffee, delicious creamer choices and a bunch of fun toppings for guests to choose from! I loved seeing all of the creative coffee combinations. I also made my famous biscuits and gravy, patriotic berry trifles, & easy egg soufflés.
The brunch ended up lasting through the morning and into the late afternoon. We had such a wonderful time sharing laughs and memories with some of our dearest friends and family.
