Men At Work

Posted on the 16 September 2012 by Vidyasury @vidyasury
It has been a pleasant week with family visiting as house guests. And though it has been hectic, it has been happy hectic! I feel blessed. I enjoyed the pressure of having too much to do and tackling it fairly successfully.
You know I enjoy a happy relationship with my neighborhood and this includes my own neighbors, the shops in our area, the mobile salesmen, the wonderful people who keep the area clean and always have a smile for me and also those who just hang around. I am quite indebted to many of the traders for being a big support when I needed help in the form of home-delivery, and for believing my credit is as good as gold. Today, I want to share just some photos of various people who have been just as busy as I've been! As always, click the photo to see larger version!
This elderly gentleman earns a meager living pulling his rickshaw. Two people may fit on that seat.  But sometimes more may choose to  hang on , on the footrest. Which is downright mean, because the gentleman has to cycle that much harder. Not fair.  I am glad he covers only short distances. I would rather walk with him, chat him up and pay him at my destination, appreciating a few minutes well spent.

Next is this wonderful cook at a hotel, whose specialty is making samosas. Ah! Samosas! Who doesn't love them? I could eat one any time because this is one of my most favorite snacks. Watch how he's got his mobile near him - when I took this photograph, he was listening to a song by Lady Gaga on the Radio. He rocks, wouldn't you say? And oh, the speed at which he works is truly fascinating to watch. Watch I did, with my mouth watering. Loved it!

He has made the canapes above. Now he'll fill each one with the potato / peas masala and deep fry them. Yes, my hips are very happy indeed, not to mention my waistline! Some things in life are just worth it!
Men At Work
This bakery counter at my local supermarket is another thing my fat cells feel happy about. Very yum. These guys are renowned for their stuff and with good reason. I love them. And am partial to some items. That guy you see there, is a very sweet fella - always service with a smile!

This guy is a mobile bangle seller who stops in busy areas or goes door to door in a neighborhood to sell his bangles. Aren't they nice? Men At Work
So many colors. Glass bangles, metal bangles, plastic bangles - all in a range of prices and sizes. I love these! Men At Work Those bangles reminded me of my own - remember these? Mmmm! Men At Work
You know what I love about these people? They're always pleasant. Yeah, so they must woo you to make you buy - but just think of the effort to stay nice all day long! I like it! Here's the cook at one of the temples. He's cooking a rice dish in that huge vessel. See the "stove" fueled by firewood. Once this is cooked, it is offered to the deity during prayers and then distributed to whoever visits the temple. Yes, most temples feed people for free. The food is very tasty and filling.

And here, folks, is my work desk in the living room. Yes, those are alphabets and cartoons on the table top. Don't judge. That's my coffee mug. My laptop's keypad died. So I use an external mouse.  I tied a little red pom-pom to the pen drive because it is so tiny.

And finally - my friend the crow. You know what they say. "They also serve, who only stand and wait."
