My dog's sloppy "good morning" forced me to open my eyes.
Next to me was a man with an abnormally long tongue, holding a bloody mess of gray fur.
------------------------------------------------------------
The heat, the darkness, the silence, the cramped horizontal space was all unbearable. But the worst was the heavy door that refused to budge.
------------------------------------------------------------
Roughly, he tore open the infant's stomach. He had heard baby girls were born with eggs in their ovaries. He wanted to know for sure.
------------------------------------------------------------
The mirror was rather possessive of her. She had a number of boyfriends, but none stayed too long. The mirror made sure they didn't...
------------------------------------------------------------
The knocking was persistent. Groggily, I opened the door to find a box - half rotted remains of my grandma. "It's you, dear!" she beamed.
------------------------------------------------------------
He went quite mad towards the end, scribbling too much in his math notebook.
I don't believe it, but some say the book sucked him in...
------------------------------------------------------------
"I am only human. Humans get terribly hungry sometimes," he said with an evil grin before chopping up the kidnapped girl.
------------------------------------------------------------
My husband was snoring. Oddly comforting snores. Oh! Desperate measures ensured his body would be kept on our bed even after his death!
------------------------------------------------------------
I tried desperately to open my eyes. The lids seemed sealed! I tried to rub them, but strangely,my hands didn't seem to be there either...
------------------------------------------------------------
He had deep, soulful eyes and a kind smile. But I never knew about the hidden pincers till I hugged him.
They punctured my lungs.
------------------------------------------------------------
There's a parallel world beneath the frozen river. You have to die first and rise up from the depths. The catch is you can't come back.
------------------------------------------------------------
I don't know what woke me up that night. But when I opened my eyes what I saw first was a hand, clutching the bloody entrails of something.
------------------------------------------------------------
Argh! This unbearable need to stoop... Damn those aliens and their experiments! Whatever did they remove my backbone for!
------------------------------------------------------------
"This cartoon is terrible," she said & switched off the TV. Later she woke up, unable to move, with an animated creature sitting on her.
------------------------------------------------------------
He lost his temper. He was only human after all. Once his fit of anger passed, he regretfully looked at what was left of his cat...
------------------------------------------------------------
I opened the closet to find 7 dolls. They looked... preserved. Then I remembered, his ex-wife had delivered seven babies, all still-born.
------------------------------------------------------------
The patient isn't cooperating, Doc. He says someone is dragging him down by the ankles. I tried to calm him down, but an invisible hand grabbed my arm.
------------------------------------------------------------
He heard a baby wailing at his doorstep. It was dark. He took the baby in to see a strange face - sharp, black teeth and glowing red eyes.
------------------------------------------------------------
She was slow but thorough-prepared dinner, watered the plants, cleaned the house.
Once she was satisfied, she set all the curtains on fire.
------------------------------------------------------------
You can't shake off that feeling of being watched on that tree-lined street. Look closely. Each leaf has a cut-up human eye stuck on it.
------------------------------------------------------------
They were new to the neighborhood. Their son wondered why no kids played in the park nearby. On a stormy night, he saw the skulls.
------------------------------------------------------------
In all the years I worked as a museum curator, not once had I heard such noises from the basement. The mommy exhibit had arrived.
------------------------------------------------------------
"The washing machine's beeping."
"But the power's out!"
We opened the lid. Our neighbor's son was in there, crushed to a pulp.
------------------------------------------------------------
"To be killed by a teddy bear! Almost funny, isn't it?"
"Not so much when you realize how many stuffed toys there are in your baby's room."
------------------------------------------------------------
The wrought iron gates had a spoke-like pattern. The alien didn't know just how easy it was to get impaled on earth.
Until it was too late.
------------------------------------------------------------
When they checked her phone, they found the last selfie she had clicked. Her head looked like it was being twisted by an invisible hand.
------------------------------------------------------------
Half asleep, she heard multiple religious chants. But when she opened her eyes, they stopped. She was sure it wasn't a dream.
