INT. IN FRONT OF YOUR COMPUTER - NOW
SCRIPTED WHIM Use the scenery to add
dimensions to your story. Changing a scene featuring two
characters from an isolated
park bench to a crowded
carnival changes the actions
and reactions of the characters,
as well as the stakes of the
story. If the environment of a
scene is unique and intriguing,
hooking your audience is that
much easier. This exercise will
help you think outside of the
mundane.
SCRIPTED WHIM Watch the scene above or
choose any scene from any film
ever made. Rewrite the scene in
a new setting. Add or subtract
characters but do not alter any
character with a speaking role.
Do not add or subtract any
dialogue. Notice what the new
environment does to the scene.
Depending on the setting, the
tone, pace, and possibly even
the genre of the film is
changed.FADE OUT:THE END
