Living in California there’s nothing better than a good sunset.  Those clouds that come in over the ocean as the sun goes down make for some of the best sunsets.  And, anytime after a giant storm, are when those vibrant colors come in during a sunset.

So, it only makes sense that Mirassou has come out with a new wine under the name of “Sunset Red.”  This wine’s name was voted on by Mirassou’s fans over the past year, and now it’s been officially launched:

After first opening, swirl your glass around a bit and take in those aromas.  Very pleasant aromas I must add of cherries.

The Sunset Red is a Red Blend that pairs well with chickens, pork, and few pasta varieties.  Mirassou, known for their appeal with their Pinot Noir, has now come out with a Red Blend to tickle those taste buds.

The grape varieties coming mostly from the Lodi area, and with its climate allows for dark, fruity flavors to come out of that region.  The Sunset Red is exactly that: full of cherry aromas.

Although I am more of a white wine drinker gearing more towards the sweeter variety, the smell of this wine had me from the very beginning.  After first sip, being a limited red wine drinker, the wine gave me a bit of a kick, but it was one I could enjoy out in the sun as I sat down to enjoy a California Sunset.

The best part about Mirassou Wines is how reasonably price they run.  The Sunset Red runs around 12 dollars a bottle.  Will you be trying out the Mirassou Sunset Red, or have you already?  What were your thoughts?

Disclosure: I was provided with a bottle of Mirassou Sunset Red for review purposes.
