There are nights when my husband has to work late. Truly, those nights are few and far between, but they do happen. When they do, I get a taste of single motherhood. I have to provide dinner, get the homework done, get the kids to bed, etc, all on my own.. It’s on those nights that I realize how much I rely on my husband. We share the responsibilities in our house pretty evenly, so when he works late, I really feel it.
I only experience that extra added work from time to time, and every time, I think about all of the single Mamas and Daddy’s out there and how hard it must be for them. In my every day life, I often feel like I don’t have a moment for myself, but on the nights when my husband is out of the house, I suddenly realize that I actually do steal quiet moments here and there that completely disappear in his absence.
So….single parent friends, please realize that once again, I am thinking of you all today and am honoring you. I hold you all in the highest regard. I think I’ve even written about this topic before once when my hubby was on a business trip, and once again, I find myself wrapping my brain around the same topic. It hits me like a ton of bricks when I think about it, because single parenthood is hard!
So…my song of the day for all of the single Mamas is “Miss Independent” by Kelly Clarkson. Independence is a righteous quality, but all I can say is thank goodness for babysitters. Click HERE to hear the song and know that this co-dependent Mommy is saluting you all!
