My little guy was in a play at his school yesterday. They have a residence in artist come in every year and work with his grade for 6 weeks, and then, voila – a performance for the families. The kids write the play and then perform it. All the classrooms have been simultaneously working on a unit on outer space and the moon, so each class’s performance reflected the topic, as well. My son’s class play was entitled “Bringing Down the Moon,” and he got to play the part of a squirrel. Oh, so cute! No costumes, but he was so great taking on the traits of a squirrel. Check out a couple of pictures.
He was so happy to spot me in the audience Look at the grin when we made eye contact.(He’s the one in the bottom left corner)
Here he is with his squirrel buddies… (boy with the white shirt on the right)
And the curtain call – a job well done!
What song could his class perform about the moon? “Moon Shadow,” of course. What a sweet performance it was, and despite the fact that Cat Stevens is on the “no fly” terrorist list, it is still a lovely song with new wonderful memories attached forever. What a happy afternoon!
