Motivation Monday: A Box of Kisses

Motivation Monday: A Box of Kisses Some time ago, a man punished his 3-year-old daughter for wasting a roll of gold wrapping paper. Money was tight and he became infuriated when the child tried to decorate a box to put under the Christmas tree.
Nevertheless, the little girl brought the gift to her father the next morning and said, “This is for you, Daddy.” He was embarrassed by his earlier overreaction, but his anger flared again when he found the box was empty.
He yelled at her, “Don’t you know that when you give someone a present, there’s supposed to be something inside it?”
The little girl looked up at him with tears in her eyes and said,”Oh, Daddy, it is not empty. I blew kisses into the box. All for you, Daddy.”
The father was crushed. He put his arms around his little girl, and he begged for her forgiveness.
It is told that the man kept that gold box by his bed for years and whenever he was discouraged, he would take out an imaginary kiss and remember the love of the child who had put it there.
In a very real sense, each of us as humans have been given a gold container filled with unconditional love and kisses from our children, friends, family and God. There is no more precious possession anyone could hold.
------------------------------------------ We live in a world where many people only think about getting the most expensive gift and if it's not the best of the best they don't appreciate it. My mother calls that a "gimme, gimme attitude".
People tend to forget the small things in life, the good things, the priceless things. Having the latest phone is good but it's not anywhere near as good as hearing a child say I love you, or getting a phone call from that someone special, or even a smile from a complete stranger when you're feeling down. It's the small things that matter and I would love to get a box full of kisses.
For my 26th birthday I didn't get any bought gifts but I got the love of my family and a card scribbled in by my 2 year old nephew Isaiah. On mother's day I got a handmade card again scribbled in by Isaiah. His mother wrote some really nice words in it and then gave him the pen to write something in it for me and that was one of the nicest things I can say I ever got as a gift, and it cost nothing but time.
So cherish those little moments that you usually take for granted and better yet instead of waiting for someone to give us a box of kisses why don't we give someone a box of kisses instead. I'm sure it will make their day.
Wishing you a box of kisses and an envelope of hugs.
Enjoy your day!
