My Best of Design Picks in Milan at Salone Del Mobile, 2015

Posted on the 22 April 2015 by Just For Clocks @JustForClocks

Stacks of invitations and announcements. Planning the perfect to-see list. Itinerary of new product launches. Installations that I just cannot stand to miss. The list continued to feel as daunting as ever as I make my trip to Milan to attend the Salone del Mobile 2015.

April is "the" season for the furniture world. With hundreds of satellite exhibitions around Milan, I was one of the tens of thousands of professionals visiting the fair and hoping to be excited and "Look" at what's new and next in the world of interiors and design. From the Rho fairgrounds to the urban exhibition spaces, majestic palazzos and luxury fashion shop windows, I was waiting to uncover the best that the design world had to offer for 2015.

Incredible elaborate booths at the fair grounds greeted me to showcase their newest product, material, style and design.

Spending nearly a week in Milan pin-balling around the fair grounds and Milan round the clock, I was attempting to absorb all the objects and ideas on offer, but a few things and designs stood out the most!

There were plenty more notable ones that caught my eyes and these were a few of my picks

The race was on and it seemed like the international design crowd had descended upon Milan for the fair, undoubtedly the world's most important furniture fair. Spotted at the fair were designers Rossana Orlandi, Karim Rashid, Kenneth Cobonpue & many more. This year, celebrated architect had presented a marble collection for Italian Stone brand Citco, comprising vases and tables. The collection demostrated Hadid's control of bold & fluid forms.

This year saw a refreshing attitude. Brands released resolved collections based on research, technology and innovation, rather than a relentless need to find something new. In terms of color palettes, Milan was awash with shades of pink, from light to dark and bold green and blue.

Overall, the warmer spring weather and a more buoyant European economy made for a vibrant and successful Salone.
