Today, my best friend leaves me for eleven months. Like my college roommate did in 2011, my Bestie is leaving (mostly) all comforts behind for the next eleven months. She will be in a different country every month. She will be in places that may not always be very welcoming to her either because she is a woman, because she is a Christian, or because she is both. She will be spending these months away from her family and friends, the comfort of her own bed, the consistent promise of a hot shower and internet access.I know she's nervous. I'm nervous for her. But I also know she's excited. And I'm excited for her.
These eleven months are going to be absolutely spectacular for her. She's going to see God in completely new ways and be stretched beyond what she ever thought possible. But she's strong and she loves the Lord and I know that this experience will only add to her strength as a person and her strength as a woman of God.
