If we’re friends on Facebook and Instagram, for sure you have seen me wearing red lippies lately. I must admit that I am not really confident wearing red lipstick before but now I love reds! I find it sexy, elegant, and fierce. So here I’m sharing with you guys my current favorite red lipstick, Hourglass Opaque Rouge Lipstick in Icon.
Hourglass Rouge Opaque Lipstick in Icon (Deluxe Sample)
Full size retails for 28 USD , 0.1 oz / 3g
If my memory serves me right, I bought this sample last year together with the Hourglass Mineral Veil and Hourglass Primer Serum deluxe samples from KikayStuffPH, an online seller on Instagram.
I wanted to try Hourglass cosmetics but they are hefty for my budget so I’m thankful that they have these deluxe samples and I can test the products first before buying the full sized ones. You can check my review on the Mineral veil on the link above.
Packaging
The tube is the exact same thing with the full-sized version except that, of course this one’s smaller, around .03 oz only and you can use it 10x or more because it’s really hella pigmented and long lasting! It comes with a flat doe-foot applicator that’s thinner compared to the slanted ones. It’s easier for me to apply the lipstick with it.
Pigmentation / Application
Just like what I’ve mentioned, it’s mega pigmented, girl! You can also wear it sheer or opaque, just build the color the way you want it to look like. It’s very smooth and easy to apply. Just don’t forget to exfoliate and condition your lips first so it’ll look better when worn. No one loves scaly red lips right?

Lasting Power
It’s kiss-proof and smudge-proof once set on the lips. It lasts more than 6 hours with eating and drinking. I wore this during our event in a buffet restaurant and guess what? After eating like a bear, my lipstick is still there. It has faded a little but I can still see the color. It’ll definitely last longer without eating or drinking. It also doesn’t bleed with or without lip liner underneath.

I highly recommend this to people who love matte, long-lasting lipsticks, and with enough budget for makeups. It’s pricey but I promise you guys, it’s worth it! It’s considered as one of the best red lipsticks and worn by Christina Hendricks during the Emmy Awards Night. It comes in 9 different shades to choose from! It has no particular scent, it smells a little similar to my Makeup Academy Lip Lacquers (review soon!)
Concerns
Not affordable nor locally available here. If you’re on a budget, for sure you can find a dupe from MAC, Revlon, or Wet n’ Wild but again, it’s worth the investment.
