I think Taapsee Pannu must be feeling very good with the release of her second prominent movie Naam Shabana. Firstly, she is the lead character in this movie. Her name is Shabana Khan in this movie. Secondly, working with stalwarts like Akshay Kumar and Manoj Bajpayee is a blessing in itself. That too in your second movie as a lead character. Thirdly, in her previous movie Pink, working with Amitabh Bachchan itself must have been her dream come true. And finally, she is growing and maturing faster as a serious and promising artist. Though she has been into many South Indian movies and Bollywood movies earlier but I would count Pink as a fresh beginning of her new career. I think the characters she plays in these two movies take her to new heights. And also it will help her transform to a different set of acting skills.

Naam Shabana is an action-thrill movie keeping central focus in Shabana. In fact, there are other strong actors in the movie like Akshay Kumar, Manoj Bajpayee, Anupam Kher, and Danny Danzongpa. But Taapsee stays under focus all the time and she has been able to play her role fairly with perfection. Shabana belongs to a lower-middle class family. Her alcoholic father beats his wife regularly and that is responsible for her disturbing childhood. One day, when her father is almost about to kill her mother, she murders him. After spending some time in Juvenile she returns home. Jai, her college mate loves her a lot. By the time, Shabana decides to accept him and acknowledge his love, he gets murdered by a group of drunkard men.

Naam Shabana

The real action of Naam Shabana is yet to reveal in the story. To take revenge of Jai, Shabana undergoes a contract with Ranvir Singh. I would say the story would have been better than this. But on the other hand, direction, acting, and delivery are all perfect. Naam Shabana earns Rs. 5.12 Crore on the very first day of its release. It indicates to do well in the coming days and go for a record earning.
