hopefully will equal some healthier, prettier nails.
I have been an acrylic nail wearer and lover for years.  Can't say that I still don't love them after all this time.  But when they are growing out and I can't get to the salon in a timely manner, they really get on my last nerve.
I've decided to give my nails a health break and from the looks of the picture above...they need it!  This is the kind of damage left in the wake of constant acrylic wear.  My nails have pretty much always been soft and would peel but now they are also full of ridges.
It's been recommended to me that given a little time and alot of TLC, my nails can be pretty, normal and natural again.  I have decided to take that challenge.  I am giving my nails their sabbatical for a few months.  I'm going to try to withstand my acrylic dependence and pamper my nails at least until Christmas.  If they are looking better and are stronger then I plan to polish & decorate them to my heart's content.  If not, well....let's just not go there.  Haha.
Nail pampering will include OPI's Nail Envy in Original, three 1000 mg fish oil capules per day and cuticle oil each night.  Until they have recovered somewhat I don't plan to do much filing; only snipping hangnails as needed and keeping them clipped short for now.  They have some major recovering to do.
I'll try to stay patient and I'll update their progress in December.  Wish me luck!Oh.....and if anyone has any other suggestions for nail recovery, please let me know.  All advice is welcome!
