Simplicity is calming and inspiring at the same time.
When I first came across coconut as a furniture material several years ago, the idea absolutely intrigued me. Coconut shell is normally industry by-products, typically either burned or thrown into landfills. But as I see it today, designers have taken up the challenge to transform these waste materials into usable surfaces. Continuing the Trend 2015 I mentioned earlier. Product designers are striving to create eco-conscious product with an exotic flair.
A beautiful armchair with a textured surface made of coconut shells seen at Maison & Objet Asia, at Singapore.
The beautiful but unexpected design turned coconut into an unusual sculptural character. The combination of facets & the natural palette on the piece emanates a wonderful sense of calm in this sophisticated arm chair.
