…need People

Lists are everywhere. At their most useful, they give us that unparalleled satisfaction of crossing things off of them (even if we only added them to the list, after having already completed the task, just so that we could have the satisfaction of crossing it off). At their most distracting they’re a series of GIFs on BuzzFeed that is “just so us!” ….and “just so distracting us from what we should be doing!”

Then there are those lists that needlessly rank purely subjective qualities. You know the ones I’m talking about, the ones that make you want to punch humanity in the face (okay, just part of humanity, but you know who you are).

Truth be told, the list in question is not the only or worst offender. We live in a world that allows for both participant trophies and ranking human beings by their physical attractiveness (did I mention punching humanity in the face?). It’s a silly and ridiculous contradiction, made even more so by the fact that the “controversy” over the “winner” of the current list is currently trending on Twitter. I only hope that Mr. Beckham doesn’t take it personally.
