Thus, New Year’s Eve and Day are magically potent, especially for banishing negativity and embracing the future. Here’s a few ideas for incorporating magic into your New Year festivities, today or anytime in January:
1. Prosperity Magic
New Year’s superstitions about coins are found in several cultures. For wealth and good fortune, place coins on the windowsills of your home on New Year’s Day. In Russia, it’s believed that leaving money scattered around will draw even more money into your life. If you drop some change, don’t pick it up. It’s also lucky to leave a few coins in your pockets, wallet or around the house. In modern Pagan traditions, carrying sunflowers seeds, adventurine stones or mint leaves attract wealth.
2. Cleansing and Banishing
Make a bath tea by placing herbs in a mesh or cotton bag and running it under hot bath water. Lemon balm, sage, mint and eucalyptus are known for their purifying properties. A bath with any of these herbs will clear away negativity and allow you to pursue your goals and desires. These herbs also clean up the emotional clutter that’s keeping from being your best self. After you’re physically and psychically cleansed, you can fully embrace 2012. Cleansing can also be done by cleaning your house, smudging your home or your body with sage, drinking lemon tea or pouring a little sea salt at the bottom of your shower.
3. Motivation Magic
January is a great time to undertake projects and bring dreams to fruition That’s why we all make New Year’s resolutions. For a little extra motivation, carve your goals, wishes and desires into an orange (the colour of action) candle. Light the candle and let it burn all day. As the wax melts, your intention is released to the universe. You’ll feel motivated and energetic knowing the universe has your back.
