Diaries Magazine
Dear Noah,
Well as you turned 9 months old on New Years Eve when everything was still very hectic around here, this update is a little bit late and you're now halfway to 10 months old!
It only seems like 5 minutes ago that we brought you home from the hospital, it's crazy to think that in just a couple of months time we'll be celebrating your first birthday AND that you'll already be a big brother by then!
It's so funny to refer to you as a big brother when you're such a tiny little thing!
You're already asserting your big brother authority though as you just love to bounce on my tummy and bang on it like a big drum whenever you get the chance - I think you're letting Baby Brother/Sister know who's boss before they come out!
Your eating has improved a lot since your last update at 7 months when you were struggling to eat anything with lumps, these days you manage them really well and you have started to eat a lot of the same foods that we do but chopped up - you absolutely wolfed down your Christmas dinner and your first experience of chocolate cake for afters was a definite life highlight for you!!
You've been snacking on Organix sweetcorn rings and carrot puffs lately, and yoghurts are your favorite thing ever - so are rice krispies when you sneak a few out of Mummys bowl!! This week I plan on starting you on some more finger foods such as bread sticks and cheese.
You helped yourself to your big brothers juice cup recently and surprised us all when you knew exactly what to do with it! You picked it up (despite it being half the size of you!), put it straight in your mouth and tried to take a big swig!! We swiftly replaced it with a baby cup of water and you took to it straight away! Today you also made a grab for my glass of water and took a big gulp of it when I held it to your mouth!
You have your three bottom teeth and four top teeth through now, and love showing them off all the time with your cheeky little grin! The teething seems to have calmed down a bit lately so it might be a while until you get any more through, which is good as I think you need the break after the trouble its given you the last few months!
You're just about going in to 9-12 month clothing now, and have moved up to size 4 nappies.
The health visitor came out today to do your 9 month check and you passed with flying colours - no concerns anywhere which is always reassuring. You weigh 21 lbs and measure 28 inches long. You're on the 50th centile for height, and 75th centile for weight.
You go to bed at 7.30 after your bath (which you love!!), and sleep through until around 9 am - you're a lazybones just like your brother, no early risers in this house!! You usually have just one nap around mid day, usually for between an hour to an hour and a half but some days you'll sleep a bit longer.
Last month you celebrated your first Christmas and you had an absolute whale of a time! Your favorite part was chewing on wrapping paper and banging on toy boxes!
As for milestones, you haven't quite moved off to a crawl yet but I do think it'll be any day now - reading back on your brothers updates he didn't crawl until 11 months, but I think you're probably going to be off before then.
You tend to pull yourself up on all fours and try to move your arms as though you're swimming, but you end up moving backwards.
You have found another way of getting around though - bum shuffling!!! You started twerking away when you were sitting on the wooden floor at your Auntys house on boxing day, and the next thing you were off across the floor - bum shuffling from one side of the room to the other within seconds!!! You're slower to get around on our carpet at home but you still manage to cross the room pretty quickly and it's very funny to watch!
You're very steady with sitting up now, and you just love to bounce - whether you're in your jumperoo or not, you're always bouncing up and down!
You still love playing Row your boat and rock yourself back and forwards whenever anyone sings it, you have also recently learned to High Five which is very cute, and you love to wave to everybody for about 5 minutes at a time!
You've also recently learned to shake your head for "No No" which you now do when you don't want anymore dinner or whenever I ask you for kisses - you grin widely and shake your head "No"...it makes me laugh which you love and you definitely do it all the more on purpose to get a laugh! You're so cheeky!
And finally, we have had quite a few first attempts at verbal communication too which has been very exciting - you shout "Mama", "Dada" and "Nana" quite often and you definitely say it with purpose as its usually shouted quite angrily while you look at the person in question and hold your arms out to be picked up!
You also say "Oh oh oh" while you rock back and forwards, which seems to be your attempt at singing Row row row your boat! very cute! I did worry that you wouldn't be able to get a word in edgeways around your brother but I think we're going to have another chatterbox on our hands at this rate!
That's all for this update Noo Noo, you're such a little delight and I can't wait to see how you change over the next couple of months until your first birthday.
Love You Always,
Mummy xoxo
