Oh, Who Are the People on Monit Shiruts?

Yesterday, when I was on the monit shirut (group taxi) from Tel Aviv back to my home in Jerusalem, I met the most interesting woman.

What does that have to do with growing up you might ask?

Well, quite a lot actually.

The first way is this: While I am no schlub, I am definitely more ruggedly good looking than say an Ashton Kutcher type.

I had very low self confidence while growing up, and while I had girlfriends, I never really knew what to say, because I was always either too busy trying to impress them, or get them horizontal.

Hey, truth is truth.

Yet there I was, in the taxi, having a completely up and up, utterly platonic conversation with this truly stunning woman.

And you know what, not one time, not once did sex even cross my mind!

Now you might be saying, “you’re darn right!” “You’re a married man, and those thoughts should not even be going through your head, about anyone but your wife anyway!”

And you are right.  However, if you were one of those who just said or thought that, then you are definitely NOT a man.

You see, that is the beauty of a happy marriage.  Either spouse can glance at, or talk to/of anyone, without ANY sexual interest at all!

That, my friends, is growing up! Why?

Because I am secure in my marriage.  I have sown my wild oats, and now I am beyond grateful to have a wife, and especially the one I have.

She grounds me, she is stunning, talented, has an incredible work ethic, and above all, she is a wonderful wife and mother!

So having grown up to the point that a I have (and I understand that in is a never-ending process) I am totally secure in my marriage, and therefore can meet new and interesting people all the time!

GUILT FREE!

To be able to spend an hour on a ride home, discussing life with someone else, then getting home, suggesting that my wife add her a a friend on Facebook because you know that they will get along so well!

And truly doing it for their their sakes, and not for your own personal interests.

Ah, it’s good to be grown-up…
