One of my dearest friends, Jay Newman, recently wrote the most beautiful email about me. I just adore.
While I have stayed in touch with many of my fellow SuperKids counselors that summer, who have gone on to do extraordinary things in teaching, community law, medicine, and so many other fields, perhaps the person who has most touched Trini and my life is Aleeka Edwards. Aleeka has been a true friend to us throughout the years and has given us guidance, shared in our best and worst times, and been our biggest and most tireless spirit booster. She also is the person who made sure that Trini and I got to see Sally Michel in November last year. We had tried to find time with Sally when we got back from Chile in 2011, but time got away from us all, and it was Aleeka who in her unique and absolutely charming way seemingly randomly organized for us all to have dinner – and made sure we saw Sally two or three more times before Aleeka headed back to New York.
