I like this quote because it reminds me that there is truly no such thing as ‘normal’. So many people are afraid of judgment, neglect, or embarrassment that they fear to be themselves. Dress this way, act like this, listen to this music, and dumb yourself down to fit in at school, work, or wherever. It’s been the better part of a decade since I was in high school, but I can still remember what it was like. I would make jokes, act stupid, and often just portray myself as a fool to make and retain friendships with people that never have, and still don’t really matter. Now I accept and enjoy my thirst for knowledge, art, and expression. Everyone’s journey through life is their own, why try to live somebody else’s? If you do what you enjoy, and pursue the things in life that make you happy, and allow you to express yourself, then you will truly be allowed to grow into the person you are meant to become. You will never find an easier path to happiness. Be yourself, above all things. Be true to you.
